Having mastered Emperor, I'm taking my first stabs at Immortal difficulty. So far, I've gotten the hang of navigating early game bum rushes, forward settling, and general assholery. But where I consistently fall behind is in the Medieval and Renaissance eras, where the science gap between me and the leading AI players becomes so wide that the game already feels lost unless I go for a culture or diplo victory.
What's the best way to overcome this? Is the Immortal/Deity meta to spam Campuses in every city? Are there specific milestones I need to achieve by the Medieval era to stay "in" the game?
