Election Guidelines

The following Rules or Guidelines will be merely informative for how future elections are to be conducted when the time comes. These guidelines supplement the already legal Constitutional clauses regarding elections

Guidelines for conducting elections taking place beginning July 1, 2017 elections.

  1. Each citizen has 1 vote.

  2. Votes are submitted via modmail to /r/civSPQR.

  3. These guidelinse are intended to supplement already existing laws in the Constitution regarding Consular elections, listed here for clarity only:

I. The Princeps serves as the Judge over Consular elections.

II. Elections must be announced at least 5 days in advance before they are to take place, unless there is less than 5 days left until the end of the current terms end.

III. Candidates must declare their candidacy before the beginning of the election.

IV. In the event there is a vacant office as a result of no qualified candidate, the Senate must fill the vacancy with a Proconsul as quickly as possible to serve out the term and fulfill the responsibilities of the Magistracy in question.

V. Magistrates assume office on the first day of the next month and remain until the end of their term in office.

VI. In the event of a tie, there will be a runoff election until there is a victor or the other candidate(s) drop out.

Please discuss, comment with suggested edits. When we're satisfied on a final draft we can move on to a vote. Also keep in mind we can revisit and amend this law later if appropriate.
