TL;DR: Civrealms is no longer even closely resembles the server that some of you tried out in beta. So much has changed, and the foundations have been set for a really fun server.


There is some big, big news today. But first, some expectations and a bit of communication around the goals of Civrealms.

Civrealms is first and foremost a Civserver. Not a replica Civcraft server. The goals of Civrealms are much the same as the original Civcraft server, an experiment in ideology and human nature.

To further that mission, there are a couple key goals driving the Civrealms banner: ensuring established players can defend themselves, creating dynamics benefiting groups, inviting new (and untainted) players to the server, and fostering a long and stable map.

Many of the changes lately have been driven by one or more of these goals, including all the new changes around dupe detection that have been added to ensure that players never feel that the playing ground is unfair.

Now, a note before I dive into all the changes, since the goal of this server is a long and stable map, there are no resets, there are no do-overs. This is the main map, whatever happens.

Change Log:

Iron and Diamonds:

  • All in all the following buffs contribute to nearly a 300% increase in diamonds over beta.

  • You can smelt iron ore in an oven.

  • Factories are more iron efficient though than before: Furnaces give 72 iron instead of 64 per run, Blast furnaces give 96 iron instead of 80 per run

  • Mithril picks cause no cave-ins, and cause no civrealms cobble generation: mithril makes LASER SHARP CUTS

  • An additional 50% buff of the amount of diamond ore in the AN has been added. The overworld also will spawn diamonds occasionally now.

  • The diamond ore smelting recipes are more efficient too, from 1x (furnace) and 2x (blast furnace) to instead 1.5x and 2.5x.

  • Diamonds drop as diamonds directly except if you have silk touch to get the ore.

Tools:

  • You can craft all tools by hand with the right ingots/mithril sheets

  • Cobble used in pick crafting gives a (wood) "Crude Pick" that has lore suggesting you use flint or bone instead

  • Shovel factory recipes use half the resources now so they're still better than handcrafting

Miscellaneous:

  • You get a claim bastion in your starting kit

  • You can't place bastions less than 21 blocks in either horizontal axis from another bastion block (city or claim ones). Nerf to ring vaults.

  • Tree growth times 2x faster

  • Steelmaking moved from Forge to Furnace.

  • Bastions have more informative lore (old ones still work too though)

  • Some starting kit items survive /ott: up to one bronze pick, one claim bastion, your intro book, one fishing rod, one bed, and you get some new bread.

  • Wolves less common

  • Can make normal ovens with cobble

  • Guardian disabled until further notice for control measures

  • Discord invite competition has transitioned into a rolling event and will be ongoing for the next couple months Upcoming

  • Brewery will be added very soon

  • Wordbank will be added soon

  • A riot plugin will be added soon

  • Other new fun and enriching plugins will be added in the same vein to add a little spice into the offtime players have when lazing around town.

Lastly, today we’re announcing a new program to encourage cities to give Civrealms a shot, if your town wants to move over to Civrealms, and you bring three or more notable players with you, the admin team will create a ‘welcome’ factory obsidian bunker for you, complete with a Bakery, Grinding Mill, Textile Factory, Bio Lab, Carpentry, and Kiln. This little welcome package will make grinding through the rest of the tech tree much easier, and if you’re interested, please send a modmail with the names of the other players you’re playing with and where your town is located.
