Expedition into Northern Lands

Forces from the four Sovereignties pushed into the lands north of the Sovereginties, departing from Rheinheim. The company experienced several heavy losses, but with almost half of the force remaining after clearing the northern lands, the decision was made to press eastwards. An encounter with an unusually skilled Kobold force in the east resulted in a pyrrhic victory, with a complete loss of combatants on both sides. Only runners and scouts survived, bringing back the shocking news. Apart from the major loss of life, the missions of the expedition were a success. Friendly outposts of dwarves were discovered in the northern territories, and land sutiable for a Sovereign Capital was located. Additionally, another previously undiscovered civilisation was located. According to scouts, the civilisation is a unified nation of Dwarves going by the name Semor Nazom. A diplomatic party is to be dispatched in under a year's time.

Establishing the Fifth Sovereignty

After the clearing of hostile barbarians from the territory north of Rheinheim, negotiations were opened with the dwarven outposts of the region. Outposts were promised an infusion of workers and the funding of public construction projects should they submit to the authority of the Sovereign Orator. One particular outpost, built in the shadow of a volcano, admitted that they had no ties to any existing Dwarven state, and agreed to pledge allegiance to the Sovereginties. The Outpost, which goes by the name of Ultèr Zefon (Commonfountains), will recieve population equivalent in numbers to a settling party from the Sovereignties, and will be established as the capital of the fifth coequal sovereignty, the Nïng Olon sovereignty. The sovereignty is to be led by the current Mayor of Commonfountains, Urist Stodir.

Standing Army Retraining

After the devestating loss of the Northern Expeditionary Force, Sovereign Orator Ciado has authorized the use of Sovereignty funds to retrain an emergency garrison for the three Northmost Sovereignties, to forestall any potential retaliation from the well-trained eastern barbarians. (45 gold for 450 troops, current troops 1273)

A Series of Advancements

In the recently established Southern Sovereignty, intercommunication with the highly spiritual Iaoaii has resulted in the Sovereignties gaining a knowledge of Priesthood. As a symptom of the spread of this idea, the entirity of the Sovereignties remains friendly towards Iaoaii proselytizers.

Thinkers within the city of Chakat have pioneered a new way of thinking, derived from the Chijnol love of architecture. The mathematical system, developed from an effort to ensure more consistent aesthetics and load-bearing construction, has been dubbed Geometry.

The newly contacted Dwarves of the north, recently incorporated as the fifth Sovereignty, have a love of functional architecture that may outpace the Chijnol love of aesthetically pleasing architecture. Chijnol settlers, upon examining the stone walls and great hall of Commonfountains, have pioneered new ways of thinking about Construction that place importance on functionality and size, as opposed to merely on aesthetics.

Construction of Inter-Sovereignty Roads

In the interest of furthering inter-Sovereignty transportation and trade, Sovereign Orator Ciado has authorized the use of public funds in the construction of a network of roads that at teh time of their completion will connect all five Sovereignties. (255 gold for 17 tiles worth of road) To permit construction of roads, unclaimed territory between the new Nïng Olon Sovereignty and the Rhein Sovereignty has been incorporated. (purchasing one tile for 2 culture)

Construction Projects within the Sovereign Capitals

The Sovereign Orator, at the behest of local Sovereigns, has diverted public funds into several construction projects. Commonfountains will have a Granary constructed using Sovereingties funds as a show of goodwill. Meanwhile, the use of public funds to construct a Courthouse and Temple in each of Joara and the Vermilion Flower State, as well as a Temple in Chakat. (425 gold to construct 6 buildings)
