There is a story of the Mubari tribe – it is one of the oldest to the Cahayaredupans.
It tells of three men who visit an oracle. The oracle cries out “Hail, you three, for there is terrible news! All three of you shall be devoured by a great predator of the water, a white shark!” All three men were naturally alarmed at this, and thus endeavored to prevent this fate.
The first man was a mighty one, with large bulging muscles and physique that towered about all others. He boarded his ship, spear in hand, and went out to sea to kill the monstrous shark so that all three may live. He searched for seven days and six nights – but on the seventh night he fell asleep. A great wave toppled him from his ship, and lo the great shark ate him immediately after.
The second man had heard what happened to his friend, and cowered for he was not as strong nor as tall, and was not near the hunter or fisher that his dead brother was. So he ran deep inland of the island. That night, there was a great storm, with towering waves sweeping inland. When the storm cleared, the man was gone, and his dismembered, lifeless arms were found in the water in the days that followed.
The third man was the smallest and weakest of the three, but he was also the cleverest and the bravest. He thought for a great long while, and when he was finally done thinking, he took a knife and cut off his small finger and cast it into the water. The great shark surfaces and swallowed the bait, and the man quickly speared the shark – his village feasted on it for a week.
What this story tells is that destiny is in our hands. The only way to beat prophecy is to ensure you are on the right side of it.
Jeruk thought of this story when he marched. He thought of his story, and that vision Krasa had shown him. A wave of death and blood, spilling forward, with a flaming black skull at the helm. And thus, he stood here at the helm of 7,000 strong spearmen. They were the relentless wave that left from Yausauk. And they would bring death and conquest down upon Oilfurnaces, for Jeruk takes what is rightfully his.
