Howdy,
A response is owed to Gensokyo and Topaz, and so, after a quick chat with Topaz, Iâve prepared the following explanation for the whole attempted Gensokyo annexation incident.
Background
Mr. SpeedyJustice first acquired my services in a contractor status back in early September. He negotiated an hourly rate with me for services, however did not employ me until later on.
Mr. SpeedyJustice has been planning for some months now to acquire land within the current claims of Gensokyo. I was first contacted by Mr. SpeedyJustice regarding Gensokyo back in late September. At that point, Mr. Justice explained to me that he wanted to claim land in Gensokyo claims as âSpeedyJustice & Associatesâ. He had grand plans to acquire Gensokyo land by negotiation with Free Danzilonan Republic since Gensokyo had at the time âquitâ or at the very least stopped playing on CivMC. He asked for my assistance in acquiring land and I offered him advice:
- I told Mr. Justice that if Gensokyo werenât playing, there was ânobody there to say noâ
- and that Danzilona are cool and that he may be able to negotiate the acquisition of crayon claimed land
- We discussed that Gensokyo had not logged in in a month at that point.
From my discussion with Mr. Justice, he made it clear to me that FDR was not invested in maintaining the claim of Gensokyo, but was in fact stewarding the claims for Gensokyo at their request. SpeedyJustice also spoke with Topaz: https://i.imgur.com/0M7bqt3.png
Topaz, at the time was not playing and I thought that it seemed a bit rich that a player who had ostensively quit the server was refusing to give up claims on said server.
Mr. Justice, after attempts to buy land or negotiate for land from the Gensokyo claim, decided to try more direct options.
I advised Mr. Justice, if he wanted his claim to stand up he should: 1. Occupy unused land 2. Use it. 3. Make claims public after discovery/attempted negotiations with FDR/Gensokyo.
Speedy told me that he had no interest damaging the builds of Gensokyo, that he had no interest in relieving any Gensokyojin of their private property, and that if players wished to remain in Gensokyo, that wouldnât be an issue.
The Spiralling Downward Trend
Speedy said that if Gensokyo wouldnât agree with his plans that he may have to disable their defensive capability.
Mr. SpeedyJustice asked for Official Dalgon support. I told him that no, Dalgon would not support his plan and that my support was only contingent to my contractual obligations of providing advice.
Mr. Justice told me about multiple nations who were interested in âa dealâ for support of the overclaiming of lands. Plans were discussed about setting up a defensive structure and a base of operations outside of currently used land. Speedy asked me for assistance in setting up a bunker, with design and experienced oversight. Around this time Speedy shared the âA Plea for Gensokyo March Into the Futureâ pdf which I would summarise as 1. A meme and 2. Not something which Gensokyo would agree to, but a point along the way of negotiation.
That was the last I heard from Mr. Justice for over a month. Then Mr. Justice messaged on November 28th, asking me if I could participate in âa show of forceâ. I let Speedy know that I would help if he paid for my services, which he agreed to do. He then shared a plan to set up a bunker on the border of Gensokyo after which SpeedyJustice & Associates would walk into Gensokyo and deliver his âdemandsâ. Demands, I find out too late are quite aggressive.
I make my way down to Speedyâs bunker on December 1st. I bring my loadout which includes a set of tools, and consult during the construction of an improved bunker for Speedy. That evening Speedy lays out his plan, we walk into Gensokyo on Saturday (December 3rd) and deliver Mr. Justiceâs demands.
The December 3rd âSpeedy Coupâ
I get the @ everyone ping Mr. SpeedyJustice tells us all to log in to go over his plan. His plan has updated his plan that we have traps set up and shares coords. He also states that we might have a problem regarding a supposed alliance Gensokyo has signed, to which he states Gang Shi may show up. Speedy shares heâs updated the terms (in a pdf doc), and sends that to us.
We ran from the bunker to Gensokyo. Show up and find ___TheBoss___ (who is on our side, omg I know, insider scum) who alerts Gensokyo discord that weâre in town. We then go south to a bunker where Ferro_vir is located, and Mr. Speedy says he was gonna read out to Gensokyo his speech.
We stood around for nearly 45 mins while Mr. Justice was in the Gensokyo discord apparently reciting his speech, meanwhile we stood around for menacing effect. During the speech Ferro and TheBoss exited their bunker and stood with us on the surface. We never once initiated violence because that was not according to Speedyâs plan. We were there as a âshow of forceâ, to try and achieve some movement forward in his negotiations.
After the speech, Speedy returned to the voice call, and said that Gensokyo refused his demands and that now we needed to start disabling their citybastions. So we walked north across the bridge and set up a lodestone in the ground beside one of their streets. Dug down and located a couple city bastions. While we were doing that, Ferro decided now would be a great time to attack us in gold armour. His attack was rebuked swiftly and he was killed. Next as he was coming back with more gold armour, I was down under the city blocking off elevators and found a basement to the bunker I mentioned earlier. While this was happening Ferro was menacing Sapien (iirc) and was killed a second time. This time, while I was disabling the elevator under their bunker he opened the trap doors and started attacking me with TheBoss. Speedy gave the order to pearl Ferro, and so I pearled him and continued my disabling of the bunker elevator.
I broke one Iron reinforced trapdoor, and placed some SRO around the doors to the elevator.
I then retreated back to the city bastion, and began breaking the IRO around it. We received word that AKjanklin was on the way to fight us and we should stop him.I saw him on a snitch hit to the north east. I teleported back to surface and pearled AKjanklin. I went over to the nearest tree and made a chest and brought it to his deathpile and stored all his items.
I now had 2 pearls in my inventory and I told speedy I didnât want to hold them. So he told me to go put them a little outside town in a chest. So I went a little northwest outside town, made a chest and stored Ferro and AK in there (unreinforced). As I finished, K0mmi showed up - to which Speedy said, we werenât gonna fight K0mmi. So I said to K0mmi in general chat, âthe pearls are in hereâ, and left the area.
After returning to the group, I told Mr. SpeedyJustice I had to leave and subsequently left the area, returning to the bunker I logged out at before.
I then left the call and game, and I did nothing further in Gensokyo. I understand that after I left, Mr. SpeedyJustice and Associates left soon after.
The Apology
I feel like I was misled and duped into doing more than I intended to originally do. I would like to formally apologise to Gensokyo, Ferro_vir and AKjanklin. I am willing to negotiate reparations to all three aggrieved parties, and if all would agree I can do so through Topaz in private.
Thank you for your attention.

TL;DR SpeedyJustice ran a SpeedyCoup and SpeedyLost - I offer apologies for my part and offer to make reparations.
