On the night of December 3rd 2022, meat312 assisted a five-person attack team led by SpeedyJustice on an ill-conceived expedition to take control of Gensokyo. Following the swift, server-wide put-down of this blundering coup attempt, meat was pearled and held by the Arsenio Pact for one month and one week - over one-sixth of CivMC’s entire lifespan.

Today, this sentence is over.

While we believe that a five-week sentence is patently sufficient (and likely excessive) for the crime committed, we understand that there are those who have vocally advocated for a many-times-longer sentence; as such, in the interest of transparency, mutual understanding, and tranquility, below is a short list of precedents which demonstrate that meat312 deserves to be a free man today:

• SapienFrfx, another of SpeedyJustice’s accomplices, served only a week (approximately 1/5 meat’s sentence) in the Arsenio Pact for very similar offenses without issue.

• DockerImage and dredd_kiji, who’s actions caused a brief muti-alliance war, served only a week and a half (approximately 1/3 meat’s sentence) in Pavia without issue.

• IbisMan, who has been raiding and griefing across the -,- for the entire time meat has been pearled, has been offered a reparations package of three weeks’ pearl time and 16 diamond blocks (approximately 3/5 meat’s sentence) by Icenia without issue.

• KOEL combatants were held for less than 5 days (approximately 1/7 meat’s sentence) after declaring war on Titan Industries.

We understand that the night of December 3rd was a frightening moment for Gensokyo and her allies, and we understand that animosity may still exist relating to said events. Rest assured that we share it - what good grace there has been towards Meat and SpeedyJustice’s other accomplices in these last weeks, would certainly not exist if anything like it were to happen again.

On CivClassic, such a crime may have seen greater punishments; however, thus far on CivMC we’ve seen an effort to be compassionate and more lenient with sentencing, particularly with people unlikely to constitute repeat offenders. The facts in front of us say that meat has served his time - that the scales of justice are balanced again.
