Many moons have passed and we have yet to define a way to rule our tribe.

I was 3 days into my spirit journey, wandering the vast world the Mother has given to us, admiring its beauty. Flowing down the River between the large mountains I was greeted by an uncommon sight.

A wild pig sat on a small island in the middle of the river. Only as bus enough to fit himself on. Stranger still was that this hog was wild, yet looked at me as if I was his friend.

"Greetings," the pig said to me in a comforting voice, "You seek wisdom, yes? I will provide you the answer."

This wasn't my first spirit journey so I was not as freaked out as a normal man would be. Instead I knew this pig could solve all our problems. So I rowed closer to him and spoke...

"Oh Great River Spirit, I am humbled by your presence. I shall ask 1 question to which I seek the answer of. That is all I shall ask," I uttered as I bowed my head and out stretched my arms.

"Proceed," he oinked.

"My tribe is aimless, we seek order to guide us to safety from those who would do us harm. How should run our tribe?" I looked up after I finished to await his answer. He sat in silence for a while and finally spoke up.

"The tribe shall be lead by two distinct groups, The Elders and the Chief," he then continued on (which I'll write below) and I thanked him.

"Thank you oh mighty spirit, I will follow your advice," I continued to row down the river once more. I turned back to see the spirit one last time, but it was GONE.

This was the only sound I could utter.

Here's my proposal for Impasse Government

SETUP

The government of Impasse shall consist of a council of Elders and a Chief to rule the land and its people.

The Elders are voted in for life until they go inactive or appoint a heir. They advise the chief on issues of Trade, Infrastructure, Diplomacy, War, etc. the council can also appoint lower government members. (City planner, head farmer, etc.). The number of said Elders was not specified by the Great Spirit so that can be discussed.

Choosing Chief begins with the tribe members nominating tribesman. A vote is held, the top 4 must go through the Trials of Impasse

Trial 1: The 4 nominees will all start in the middle of the wilderness some distance away from the village. They shall have no items and must get back using their wits and knowledge of the land. First 2 back move on.

Trial 2: River challenge, the two nominees must dive into the river and who ever stays under longer while surviving wins the trial.

Trials may also be added and removed as need be. Also the challenges can be best out of 3, 5, etc.

Chief

The Chief is the head of the tribe, Chosen by the great spirit to lead our people. He leads for a period of 4 weeks and then the process begins again, the Chief may serve consecutive terms. Also anyone can challenge the chief once every 2 weeks. Challenges can be trials, vote, etc. but must be agreed upon by both parties. If the challenger succeeds he finishes the term. The Chief can refuse a challenge with permission from the Elders.

Also the Chief can be removed by 2/3 vote of the citizens and 3/4 of the Elders.
