Western Roman Empire

Some of our rightful provinces seem to be illegally occupied by dirty barbarian scum. Perhaps we should remedy this?

  • Option 1: Yes, starting with Gaul! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 2: Yes, starting with Iberia! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 3: Yes, starting with Africa! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 4: Nah, we should really do some prep first before running off and invading someone.

Eastern Roman Empire

We are the largest Empire! Unfortunately, our huge size also means that we have lots of potentially-hostile states bordering us. How will we ensure that we don't die in a multi-front war?

  • Option 1: Hadrian and his ilk had the right idea. We must fortify our borders! Build a wall!

  • Option 2: That sounds like an extremely costly and comically impractical idea. We have survived so long by shrewd diplomacy, bribery, intrigue, and other shady shit. And we shall continue to survive by that.

  • Option 3: The best defence is a good offence. Time for a pre-emptive strike! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 4: We don't need to prepare, for we are the best! We always win! ROMA INVICTA!

Kingdom of Soissons

The Roman province of Gaul, known by some as the Kingdom of Soissons, is in a pretty tricky spot. Savage barbarians abound, and the central government of the Western Roman Empire is too weak to aid you.

  • Option 1: If the Western Roman Emperor is too weak to aid his assailed provinces, then he is no true Emperor! All hail Imperator Caesar Suparius Pius Felix Invictus Augustus! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 2: Starting an Imperial civil war right now sounds like a pretty shitty idea. We must simply hold off these barbarian hordes ourselves, as that is our sworn duty.

  • Option 3: Why merely hold off the barbarian hordes? Rome conquered all of Gaul once, and can do so once more! Time to make Roman Gaul great again! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 4: These barbarians around us seem to have no trouble winning their wars and destroying their enemies, while old Imperial bureaucracies like ours seem to by dying out. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em – that's what my dad always said.

Sassanid Persian Empire

While exciting things shake up the remainder of the known world, Persia appears to have nothing much going on. That is, until we reminded the event-writer on Discord that we exist and need events.

  • Option 1: ree gib compensation for late events

  • Option 2: no u

  • Option 3: Actually, these events usually tend to do shitty things like make us lose 1 Stability for no good reason. We're fine without 'em tbh.

  • Option 4: This is a slight against our great and glorious nation! However, they don't be able to forget us ever again if we INVADE BYZANTIUM AND BURN THEIR SHIT DOWN! [Warning: WAR!]

Ostrogothic Kingdom

Us Ostrogoths, clearly the greatest of the Gothic peoples, are at a crossroads. With Romans to our south and west, a puny tribe of psychopathic bloodthirsty scrubs to our east, and a vast, untamed wilderness to our north, we have lots of options. Where should we set our sights first?

  • Option 1: To Italy! We shall accrue vast quantities of prestige and plunder if we conquer the ancient homeland of the Romans! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 2: To Greece! The larger and, more importantly, wealthier half of the Roman Empire will surely yield much more loot than the faltering Western half will! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 3: To Gepidia! Even by our barbaric standards, the Gepids are a disgusting, vile people. They must be taught a lesson! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 4: To free real estate! Fighting a war is risky and expensive, so why bother, especially when there's acres upon acres of free clay just north of us?

Visigothic Kingdom

As the masters of all Iberia and much of Gaul, us Visigoths are clearly the greatest of the Gothic peoples! How will we complete our rise to eternal glory?

  • Option 1: "Complete our rise to glory"? What is this nonsense? We are loyal foederati of the Western Roman Empire, and we're perfectly satisfied with that!

  • Option 2: Or are we? The Western Roman Empire is a fading power – perhaps we should find a new patron state to align ourselves with. [Select 1 major civ.]

  • Option 3: We don't need no patron state; we're a strong independent empire! We just need to become an EmpireTM first, but I'm sure that can't be too hard.

  • Option 4: We shall do no such thing! The decadence and effeminate nature of Imperial governance is not for us! We shall loot, raid, and pillage all day 'erry day!

Vandalic Kingdom

After a long and arduous migration across Europe and the Mediterranean, our great people have settled in the former Roman province of Africa, and the ancient seat of the Carthaginian Empire. Shall we use the exploits of our predecessors for inspiration now, or shall we forge our own path?

  • Option 1: The Carthaginians were the first and greatest nation to rule these lands, and they built a large, powerful state based on maritime trade and naval dominance. If it worked for them, surely it'll work for us.

  • Option 2: Erm, the Carthaginians were resoundingly defeated by the Romans, who had an excellent land army, and a penchant for military expansionism. We should seek to emulate winners like them, not losers like Carthage.

  • Option 3: And the Romans were resoundingly defeated by us, the Vandals! Why copy losers like the Romans, when we can be true to our name, and start vandalizing shit!

  • Option 4: Maybe we should actually secure all of North Africa first, before worrying about overspecializing ourselves? There s still that pesky Mauro-Roman Kingdom squatting on our rightful clay, after all. [Warning: WAR!]

Kingdom of the Franks

Our great but questionably-literate king, Klovis, shall surely lead us Franks to glory! The soothsayers predict a great Frankish Empire, an enduring Holy Roman Empire, and the mighty Kingdoms of France and Germany. But these soothsayers are clearly drunk, since we are one nation, one people, not four separate ones. Which shall we choose as our destiny?

  • Option 1: This "Frankish Empire" thing sounds pretty legit.

  • Option 2: This "Holy Roman Empire" thing sounds pretty legit.

  • Option 3: This "Kingdom of France" thing sounds pretty legit.

  • Option 4: This "Kingdom of Germany" thing sounds pretty legit.

Britannic Minor Civs (Sub-Roman Britain, Picts, Eblani)

Apparently there's some kinda confederation being formed?

  • Option 1: Sounds like a pretty good idea, yeah.

  • Option 2: Sounds like a perfect opportunity to stab my neighbours in the back, while they think we're all allies! Mwahahaha! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 3: Ew, working with dirty Britons/Scots/Irishmen. BRITANNICA/ALBA/Γ‰IRE INVICTA!

Civilized-ish Minor Civs (Askum, Mauro-Roman Kingdom, Ghassanids, Lakhmids)

With horrid barbarian hordes marauding around everywhere, a straggling Roman Empire trying desperately to maintain its power and influence over the known world, and fledgling barbarian kingdoms forming and expanding, how are us small yet civilized states to survive and make our mark on the world?

  • Option 1: We must become great powers ourselves!

  • Option 2: We must attach ourselves to a powerful patron state, who will protect us! [Select 1 major civ.]

  • Option 3: We must keep ourselves small isolated, and hope nobody kills us.

Barbarian Minor Civs (all Minor Civs not accounted for above)

Crush! Kill! Destroy!

  • Option 1: Charge! Subjugate! Conquer! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 2: Raid! Loot! Pillage! [Warning: WAR!]

  • Option 3: Hey, what's with this crude stereotyping? Us barbarians are perfectly reasonable and civilized people!
