A Matter of Guild Importance

Calusa: Knowing that none could match our dearly departed Chief, then King, Cayove, we changed our Kingdom (once a Chiefdom) into a Council government, but not without a little turmoil. At an important crossroads for the fledgling Council and the state it supports, we now face a crucial question: which Guild shall we center on our path to continued prosperity?

  1. The Guild of Fisheries, of course! The Calusa have been nothing without the sea, and we shall return to nothingness if we lose sight of whence so much of our food stems from!

  2. The Guild of Armed Forces, of course! The Calusa have secured uncontested control of our domain by flesh and steel, and together we shall expand on our gains!

  3. The Guild of Marshes and Floodplains, of course! The Calusa are people of the marsh and floodplains above all, and forgetting our roots would be folly!

  4. The Guild of Desert and Oases, of course! The Calusa are rightly renowned for our resilience, and our pioneering spirit serves as a model for all around us to aspire to!

  5. The Guild of Mahoma, of course! The Calusa have found our lifeblood in those tales as old as time, and the Mahoma unite us all by perpetuating their practices as far as possible!

The Grassroots Expedition

Carib: Every dayā€™s a golden day for the Carib, or so the saying goes. And even still, our fortunes have brightened yet further of late with our brand-new discovery of ships suited to sail even the deepest oceans! Now our people are yearning to see the wild blue yonder with their own eyes, and so it falls to us to choose a cardinal direction our grassroots expedition shall embark in.

  1. Our people shall sail north, in order to see if others have managed to survive in lands too cold for palm trees!

  2. Our people shall sail east, where the ocean and its corresponding mysteries are deepest!

  3. Our people shall sail south, because all those jungles and mountains ought to be hiding something!

  4. Our people shall sail west, just because I felt like whistle-stopping, idk.

  5. I have a radical idea: what if we instead, yā€™know, saved the money those silly sailors are asking for?

The Brave and the Foolhardy

Cuba: Our efforts to expand our holdings on the Yucatan Peninsula have proven spectacularly successful, securing multiple Mayan metropolises for ourselves while upholding our defensive pacteeā€™s territorial integrity in the process. However, troubling rumors of planned insurrections have trickled their way from home to our new Yucatan nerve base, setting our soldiers on edge. How shall we balance our military priorities to maintain our positive momentum on all fronts?

  1. Lamanai looks just as vulnerable as the last few Mayan targets! All we need is a concerted attack on its walls, and the city shall surely fall as soon as Uxmal and Xunantunich!

  2. Lamanai? Shall our soldiers so bravely and boldly settle for such a slight advancement?! Nay, our enemyā€™s innards lay exposed, and so itā€™s time for us to bring the Maya to their knees!

  3. Our attack may have gone swimmingly so far, but our ships are now spectacularly outclassed by theirs. As such, we should aim to permanently secure the progress our soldiers have already made.

  4. Emilio OrdĆ³Ć±ez is gone, and the threat of armed gangs has ground the growth of the island of Cuba to a near-halt. In times like these, it would hardly do to overextend ourselves - rather, we should secure the home front above all else.

  5. Morale among our military men and civilians alike is flagging, and we infamously hate animals. So then, why donā€™t we kill two birds with one stone by building big circuses with which to brighten our peopleā€™s faces?

Forward or Outward?

Gran Colombia: Our polyethnic, pluralistic culture is the envy of the Caribbean and beyond, further fostered by our somewhat recent regime change. Thatā€™s all well and good, but our material influence has weakened to the point where a rogue Carib faction could briefly threaten BogotĆ” itself, and our headway against Puerto CortĆ©s has come at considerable cost. How shall we prioritize elevating Gran Colombia the state to the level of Gran Colombia the culture?

  1. The strongest states are those that are always progressing forward, so we shall promote the pursuit of science above all.

  2. The strongest states are those that are always progressing forward, so we shall promote the furthering of religion above all.

  3. The strongest states are those that are always expanding outward, so we shall promote the discovery of open lands above all.

  4. The strongest states are those that are always expanding outward, so we shall promote the bolstering of our borders above all.

  5. The strongest states are those that balance forward progress and outward expansion, so we shall promote improved foreign relations above all.

Dark Days Ahead?

Maya: Itā€™s been dark days for the Divine Realm of the Maya ever since we lost effective control of the Yucatan Peninsula, its symbolic significance for us far beyond its already substantial material value. On top of that, weā€™ve completely failed to make further progress against the UFC, in spite of our considerable efforts (and outside aid) towards that end. With our people growing restless, well, what do we do now?

  1. Well, make our people less restless somehow!

  2. Shore up Lamanai to stave off further Cuban depredations!

  3. Reinforce our core to ensure we can hold onto it come hell or high water!

  4. Redouble our advances towards the UFC so that we can make a breakthrough!

  5. Iā€™m afraid human sacrifice is the only way. [Choose an amount of population points to sacrifice from Maya cities.]

A Kachina Society

Pueblo: We are the chosen few, and in these times of plenty, that means we have the chance to choose which branch of our cultural development to prioritize, or alternatively to save our spiritual capital for a rainy day. Which opportunity shall be ours?

  1. We shall aim to centralize the Pueblo under the Kasike of Taos Pueblo. [Requires 1 PPF and 1 PPC.]

  2. We shall seek to further bolster our armyā€™s training, morale, and devotion. [Requires 1 PPG and 1 PPC.]

  3. We shall look to meet new opportunities with a smile and a handshake. [Requires 1 PPG and 1 PPF.]

  4. We shall spread the sacred art of mosque construction throughout the land. [Requires at least 3 PPF and 2 PPC.]

  5. We shall devote our efforts towards praising Taiowa above all.

The Religion Question

Texas: The religion question has seemingly singly occupied the minds of all true God-loving, Commie-hating Texans ever since Nestorianism sprouted up out of nowhere in Austin. As devoted democracy-defenders who didnā€™t need no socialist government messing with our peopleā€™s liberty, we wished to leave the matter to resolve itself, but the present spirit of religious rancor has gotten out of hand. In the interest of keeping our peopleā€™s many, many weapons pointed in the right direction, what shall we do?

  1. Send ā€˜peaceā€™ officers and spread propaganda to ensure the people know the one true faith is Nestorianism.

  2. Send ā€˜peaceā€™ officers and spread propaganda to ensure the people know the one true faith is Kachina.

  3. Send ā€˜peaceā€™ officers and spread propaganda to ensure the people know the one true faith is Mayanism.

  4. Send ā€˜peaceā€™ officers and spread propaganda to ensure the people know Texas itself is the one true faith, and all others are distractions.

  5. Donā€™t do anything at all - the Texan people shall resolve this conflict as they see fit, for they always know best.

$$$?!

United Fruit Company: Well, we are holding the company line on both geographic sides of our operations, and trying to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy turned out to be unnecessary, to boot. Even still, itā€™s tough to chase profit margins when armed marauders keep menacing company assets, however vaguely. If our private investors had leverage, theyā€™d be threatening to divest at any opportunity, which indicates a problem in need of a solution. But which?

  1. Isnā€™t it interesting that weā€™re called the United Fruit Company, and yet bananas are the only fruit weā€™re seriously in the business of selling?

  2. Nay, whatā€™s really interesting is that we havenā€™t yet done half the banana monetization we could have. Time to change that!

  3. Wait, the United Fruit Company was ever truly about bananas? I find it super interesting that you feel that way. [Choose up to ten unimproved banana resources in UFC territory.]

  4. It would be extremely interesting to issue more shares to the ā€œpublicā€ to drive up our stock market valuation, and consequently our shareholdersā€™ dividends.

  5. Itā€™s not interesting at all to say as much, but our operations would surely be faring better right now if they didnā€™t need to deal with bands of bandits on both sides.
