After reading several posts around the sub I have a couple concerns, the bigger ones which I shall address here. I think we are throwing around lots of great ideas, but some of them may have detrimental and irreversible effects in the long run.
First of all, there is the issue of the name. Right now most names I've seen being thrown around look like they've been taken straight from thesaurus.com. I think we perhaps should come up with a whole new name, that addresses us as less of a harbor, but a national charity organization, more effective in distant lands than our own state.
Second of all, several people have suggested that we build Haven 2.0 in a desert or ice plains biome, because of appearance, building aesthetics, resources, etc. However, one major issue I see with this is crop growth. Civcraft is turning out to look like starving simulator 2013, and to be productive in helping all people get three meals a day, we need to live in a biome that is optimized for maximum growth in tandem with realistic biomes. Although I don't know which biome is best for crop growth yet, as realistic biomes becomes less buggy and closer to its intended state, we should try to decide on which biome we would settle in, as location is nearly irreversible.
Finally, the use of food as a source of xp poses serious issues to our goals as a society. We will be distributing food to the masses, to help them avoid going hungry. However, a new addition to factory mod will turn food into xp, and nerf all other sources of xp. This may seem great for everybody, and it is pretty good, but this has one major issue; food shall go from being a trivial necessity most desired by new players, to a highly valued luxury coveted by the upper class and hungry capitalists. We will no longer be able to supply cities with food just by dropping it in a chest in a take what you need fashion, as people would take it just as they would take xp bottles. If anyone can come up with a workaround for this problem, please make suggestions in the comments below.
If you've read through this whole thing, congratulations, you have a great attention span! Please post any constructive advice to the future of haven 2.0 below, whether it be related or not, and thanks for reading!
