Full disclosure everyone: Sorry for the late response because Sirboss blindsided me with this by posting at 1 am, which I didn't see until 5 am when i was going to bed.

Sirboss wrote this entire announcement post on his own without discussing with the rest of the staff team. Apparently, he thought it'd be a good idea to announce to the whole subreddit that CivEx is going to be launching on Nov 11th because he thinks that having a deadline will get the rest of us to drop what were doing and rush to finish CivEx. If he actually talked with any of us about this, he would have been aware of the fact that BOTH developers are heading into exam season next week. To top it off I have an exam on Nov 13th in addition to October exams.

Contrary to popular belief, CivEx is not something that can be easily launched as an unfinished test ground. The new CivEx is made of multiple connected systems which will not function properly when missing critical components.

I am not referring to the individual programming components, but rather the underlying game design behind them. The entire point of First Light is to allow me to conduct a full scale test of this system so I can correct unintended behavior and polish its rough edges without having to decide between continuing CivEx with a broken system or subjecting players to an unplanned world wipe.

If this is not clear already, I want to dispel this belief right now. I am already aware of what the minimum requirements are to for this system ("CivEx, the game") to function correctly. First Light is launching with those minimum requirements and nothing else. I have not been making unnecessary content for three months. I have been slowly working on meeting these minimums while Bbgun hasn't been around.

Bbgun and I will discuss if we think meeting a Nov 11th date is possible. It may be possible if he comes back to working on the project actively or if I drop what I'm doing to focus on CivEx, which is the last thing I want to do after Sirboss backs me into a corner with a massive faux pas.
