Hi Guys,
I have taken Civcredit down for the time being. It costs about $50.00 a month to keep it running. Which is stupid expensive for what it does. Heroku is a great easy hosting service but there are most likely cheaper options out there for the tiny amount of traffic the app gets.
Besides, it is long overdue for a remake and 3.0 isn't out yet. I am happy to give private repo access to any Ruby developer out there that wants to take a shot at updating this bad boy. I will be giving it a shot most likely with a react/redux front-end and ruby back end towards the end of summer.
Just in case people actually wanted to save the DB I did make a backup, but more than likely the new app will not support the old data structure. Also I believe that the system should be wiped every time CivCraft is restarted to follow the spirit of the political experiment. So I may wind up not even using the backup if we stand up the old code again.
I also did save the tables in a csv format in case anyone wanted to do some cool data visualization. It would be interesting to see the usage and potentially helpful in making a better app in the future.
Thank you all for your participation so far. I hope you understand that the mix of the low usage of the app and high cost is not sustainable.
