As of April 20th, the shortest Parliament in the history of the AFR has been ended by a Citizens' Initiative of No Confidence. By law, new elections must be held by the 30th. In keeping with tradition the election is being scheduled to take place the weekend before this deadline: the 25th-26th.
People have been expressing opinions about what we should change about the voting system. Including maybe not having a secret ballot any more. I'm not sure how I feel about that idea personally, but I do know I'm not going to make a change that drastic on my own. It is parliament who should make that type of decision for the whole country, not an unelected bureaucrat who only represents one personal opinion. So this election will remain secret ballot, with anonymized raw results publicized afterwards as usual. If Parliament later decides to change this for future elections, so be it.
To address the concerns about fraud, ballots this election will require each individual to sign in using a google account. Also each voter will need to send me a reddit PM telling me what their gmail is so I can use that to authenticate each ballot. If you already use gmail, I recommend creating a separate gmail account for civcraft so that you don't doxx yourself.
To run in the election, you must join or create a party. To create a party, post in this thread your name, your party's name, and an ordered list of the party's candidates.
Example:
Karst1
Good Old Ancaps of Tigerstaden (GOAT Party)
1st Karst1, 2nd Dr_Oracle, 3rd SLOAN80
Every candidate featured on any party list will automatically be placed on the local City of Aytos ballot. (In the unlikely event that a candidate appears on two party lists, they will be asked to clarify their most preferred party).
If you have never voted before, please consult this helpful guide published by the Aytos Ministry of Interior. If you have lived in Aytos for three weeks by the date of the election, you may be eligible to receive citizenship in time to vote.
