[Discussion] Syndiciacies, and its importance to Aytos

Post Body

As a primarily newfriend nation, Aytos have problems on production of goods and the generation of wealth simply because the ingredients, the tools to make this activity more industrious and efficient is expensive for new players who are trying to get on their feet. This is a problem that needs solving if we are to become a large and industrious nation especially with the economical domination vision of the server that is held by many of our prominent members.

So before talking about syndicacies and how it will help Aytos achieve glory, let me talk about a story. MadeofMeat lent me his ST pick weeks ago, and in a week I was able to buy my own ST pick and a F3 pick to get myself going. I also see that Greetings Industries have opened its doors like it always has and allow the public to utilize its basic factories which have been part of the backbone of the Aytian economy as it has been used by various members of our society to produce sellable goods. And then there's also the McMadeofMeat, arguably the keystone of the Aytian economy, the only shop that currently buys and regularly maintained by its owners. Of course I was able to sell ores in the first place due to Meat lending me his pick, but I found that many of our newfriend members are not having this privilege, I can get back on my feet after being bankrupt in Xia, but not these newfriends, if we are to become a great nation, then these newfriends need to be lifted up, with active help, not just letting them run about being clueless and without support.

Although it's extremely amicable that these private actors are acting their generosity for the economy, I never once think that that would be enough to actually support a whole nation. A small community? yes, but what if it grows bigger? Of course I was able to sell ores in the first place due to Meat lending me his pick, but I found that many of our newfriend members are not having this privilege, I can get back on my feet after being bankrupt in Xia, but not these newfriends, if we are to become a great nation, then these newfriends need to be lifted up, with active help, not just letting them run about being clueless and without support.

This is the exact problem I'm going to solve through Syndicacies.

So what will these syndicacies do? The Syndicacies will do exactly these.

  1. Help the newfriends to get up on their proverbial feet (by lending them tools, providing and maintaining public farms etc.)
  2. Provide land and space for them to do their business, depending on their industries
  3. Provide a more friendly manner to interact with the market
  4. Continue to support them as they grow to be independent private actors through market connections and bulk buyings.

The Syndicacy will be different from the currently popular form of Co-ops in which that Syndicacies will respect its members as private actors and will support them to become independent, and yet because one single person can only produce so much, The Syndicacies will continue to support its members by providing a middleman to negotiate and trade with the market, I propose that these would be done in contribution-based trading with the Syndicacies. Why? it's simple the Syndicacies will trade with the market in bulks, or sometimes set up shop either in our own market, or in other large markets around the server.

These will be sold or delivered in DC or SC amounts of goods which means that it will be very hard to be supplied by just one single actor for some produces. And even in produces like carrots, the issue of storage will soon arrive for the common man and the delivery of these items to the buyers can also pose a problem.

And then there's the end-game of the tech-tree in Civcraft, EXP. EXP can be produced only by processing farmed and mined goods together inside a factory, which will then be sold to the market. But the production of EXP can pose many problems for the unprivileged, the newfriends and the constantly poor (like I was last year). EXP requires people to buy many ingredients at once that might be confusing for the common players, and many of us don't possess the necessary skills to negotiate and banter not to mention time to trade between cities for items that might be in low capacity or not even provided in our market.

As such I propose that the Syndicacies will have this mechanism to work

  1. Retrieve goods from members
  2. Buy auxiliary ingredients for production purposes
  3. Process those goods into marketable finished products when available
  4. Sell the goods/products to the market
  5. Share the profits between the contributors of said batch of production (based on their contribution) after taking a small percentage for the upkeep and funding of facilities

I believe that this scheme which gathers a lot of producers into a single large market player will only bring benefit to Aytos and its people as it will have a huge leverage compared to what commoners can do individually. And no the Syndicacies are not designed for people who actually are smart for Civcraft economy and can do things on their own, this is for the lay people who sit by and relax and play mostly for the politics, but without a working economy, the politics of a nation will get boring fast, and steady decline will surely result in a crisis. And sometimes working as a hired-labor can be pretty tedious since you don't enjoy the whole process and the profits of your own work, the Syndicacies will work to keep people playing in Aytos as well because they will have work to do and the results will be their own. The workflow of the syndicacies will be as follows

  1. Members contribute their goods in DC/SC/HC/Stacks/singular amounts
  2. The Syndicacy Administration issues a bond paper both privately (In Game) as well as publicly (in a subreddit) that a member X have provided Y amounts of Z goods to the Syndicacy
  3. The Syndicacy then proceed to buy/receive additional goods required to produce a type of marketable product
  4. The Syndicacy would then sell its products
  5. Once a month, The Syndicacy would review its sales and member's contribution on its production and discuss the sharing of profits based on contemporary situation.
  6. Any additional unused materials would then be either sold or saved for the next month.
  7. Members may choose to be paid in the form of the final goods (minus some for the cost)

And with that mechanism in mind I would propose to start these Syndicates

The United Farmers of the Republic of Aytos, Syndicated (UFRA)

This will be largely based on the previous UFCA with some aspects that made it unpopular removed. What it does is that it will buy farming goods and feed it to an auxiliary company, UnionXP, which will turn them into XP and then sells them to the market. It also provides starting members with credits in the form of Fortune III picks which will require the starting members to pay it off in produces. It also will try to attain and maintain land as well as building them into farms and upgrading them with clays when necessary. The costs and considerations for these builds and upgrades will be taken from the profits of each month's round and be prioritized for the highest contributing members. Mob Farming will fall in this category.

The Aytian Mining Initiative (AMI)

I was talking with /u/felgroove about this in game, what it does is pretty similar with the UFRA, it gives credits to new members in the form of ST picks which the new members will duly pay in the form of ores. It will also maintain and run facilities such as ore smelters, glass factory, stone smelters, and other production based on mining. AMI will also take responsibilities to maintain and build public mines, as well as do surveys (or pay people to do surveys) to search for veins. It will also take responsibility to search and acquire new sand quarries for the newfriends. AMI will pay its members in the form of either diamonds or irons from ores.

UnionXP.corporation (UXP.co)

This is not actually a Syndicate but rather a branch of UFRA with the responsibility to produce XP and acquire glass bottles and other stuffs needed to produce XP as well as maintaining and upkeep its factories. Its management may or may not be the same with UFRA depending on its size and scale of production. This end-game industry arm may perhaps be extended to another end-game item, the bastion.

The Aytian Trading Company (ATC)

As the same with UXP.co the ATC is not actually a syndicate but rather an arm of the UFRA and AMI to market and deliver their goods as well as responsible with maintaining and upkeeping their shops around the server.

So what these Syndicates will do is basically create a total structure, an Aytos Inc. if you may, a Trunk of several branches with strong and diverse roots which can be fundamental to support the Aytian economy. And due to the nature of Aytos itself, it won't only compete with the other players but will be inclusive and willing to cooperate with other market players in Aytos.
