Civcraft has many plugins that change the game a lot from vanilla. Here is a full guide to the mods for new civcraft players.

Why crime does not pay in Aytos (or most places)

If you commit crimes, you can be "pearled" by the Aytos authorities and imprisoned in the end. "Snitch blocks" let us look up who has visited or broken blocks in an area, so criminal actions get recorded even when no-one is online. If you grief or steal in Aytos, we will know who did it, we will place a bounty on you, and you will become the subject of a server-wide manhunt!

Housing in Aytos

Aytos has free housing in the "ANFA district" at the east end of Strat Avenue. If an ANFA house is empty, you may claim it with a sign. If you are not sure if an AFNA house is open, /u/fishwithafez is the person to ask (he is the City Planning Minister).

If ANFA housing is full, you may construct your own temporary housing in the "Immigrant Isles" area south of ANFA.

Once you have made some money, you can buy a plot or rent an apartment downtown. Rykleos, theflyingturtle, and stratmatt57 all have downtown apartments available for rent ranging from 10 to 20 iron per month.

Plots in Aytos are moderately expensive (usually from 15-150 diamonds, depending on location), but a cheaper plot is not hard to save up for. A serious player can make 15 diamonds in just a few hours' grinding or farming (see the jobs section below). Also, new Aytos residents may qualify for a 25% discount on their first plot.

Jobs in Aytos

"McMadeofMeat's" in the Aytos market district pays diamonds for a variety of goods that anyone can farm, grind or mine.

Where to get things that can be sold for diamonds:

• Public wheat farms are located east of the city.

• Public tree farms are located just west of the ANFA housing.

• A public spider grinder is located north of the downtown.

• A public quarry is located south of immigrant isles.

Mining is permitted anywhere that is not directly under Aytos's main island. If you mine, be aware that "factories" multiply the output of almost every type of ore, with even better yield than a fortune pick. This means smelting ores in a furnace is a waste... and not using silk touch on a diamond ore is a huge waste! Instead, sell ores to shops or players to get a fair profit, and try to borrow a silk pick if you find diamond, redstone or lapis while mining.

Citizenship and Civic Participation

Aytos is a republic governed by a multi-party Parliament. Aytos Citizens are players who have freely agreed to submit to our system of government and its laws. In return they are guaranteed the ability to vote, and all the rights and protections of our constitution.

If you are interested in becoming a citizen, you must reside in Aytos for a minimum period of time, you must intend to continue residing in Aytos, and you must be willing to take a loyalty pledge that commits you to support Aytos's republican system of government. Apply for citizenship by filling out a Aytian Federal Republic Citizenship Application form.

Aytos's multi-party political system is unique to civcraft. Anyone in Aytos may start a political party, and if that party even gains a moderately small share of the vote (around 20%, for a 5-member Parliament) they are guaranteed a seat in Parliament. This is to guarantee that even minorities have a fair share of political influence.

All the major decisions for Aytos are made by Parliament, but things are run from day-to-day by various "Ministers" who the Parliament appoints. Here is a diagram explaining this system in detail.
