Oracle and I were just talking about bringing back the Aytos diamond note, and I brought up that as long as we were going to reprint it, the note could use a redesign as well. The colors and spacing were a bit glitched on the old notes; also, I would like the new notes to say "Aytos Second Republic".

Anyways, this also got me wishing we had an official motto in Latin to put on our money. So why not decide on one, and decide on some other symbology for Aytos?

Ideas for themes

Geographical features of Aytos include our presence on an island archipelago, and our abundant golden wheat fields. Maybe there is a theme there somewhere.

Also, we have a distinctive national character. Last summer when we discussed this sort of thing, we didn't have much to go on other than that we had been associated with 1.0's Tigerstaden. But now we have our own history (lots of it!).

Aytos started off small, but we had a lot of new ideas about how to do things, and we hoped these new ideas would lead to our outgrowing other cities to become the political and economic center of civcraft. When we shot up to 6th place on the CAI within two months of going public, it looked like this vision could become reality. Some of the old powers of the server joined forces to bring us down, crushing that dream for a while; but now we are back. We are starting off small, just as before, but this time we know what we can achieve, and we know how to avoid some pitfalls along the way.

Aytos's history suggests a theme of determination in the face of adversity, or sticking to a goal in spite of setbacks, or maybe just being a tough thing to completely destroy. Maybe a good motto would be something like "Aytos isn't beaten yet!" (hat tip to the nation of Ukraine).

Our goals for the future suggest a theme of starting small and growing into something mighty. Maybe 9 saplings could be a symbol of Aytos, for example, since they are something small that has the potential to grow into a super-tree.
