[Discussion] Just to grab some public opinion: What do you think needs to be done to ease burough to burough transit?

Hello Commonwealthers,

I'm rather bored tonight and figured I'd post a discussion thread to get the creative ideas flowing.

For starters, I will preface this with my third person take on this situation, trying to be as neutral as possible. It seems to me that numerous people feel that CW is somewhat lacking in any sort of convient public infrastructure that is some people's mind, would drastically help the city. I have seen several ideas discussed and I believe that two of them warrant further discussion, and could perhaps be linked.

First: An inter-city rail

Pros

  • it would create fast transit between buroughs, especially in terms of connecting Concord and Ironside to the Lower Buroughs

  • if it were well marked and maintained by the Minister of Public Infrastructure, it would be easy for newfriends to navigate

  • it would exemplify the vastness of the CW, and would most likely be an impressive monument for the CW if built right

  • it would promote greater movement in between buroughs and greater traffic to different shops around the nation

Cons

  • Roughly 2000 meters of rail would need to be laid so a tax of some sort would most likely be levied to draw some revenue so people like peter5930, Lolmagus, and I don't end up fronting all the bill.

  • once griefers got access to the rails, they essentially have easy access to all of the CW (although this problem seems more and more void)

  • property rights would most like be infringed upon and some property confiscated if there was no room

  • with all the pre-existing infrastructure, it would most likely be placed in some odd places (if it didn't have priority)

Overall, I personally think that if something should be done, this should be attempted first before we go to a drastic change like the second one.

Second: Tearing Down of all Checkpoints and Netting in the City and implementing more road signs. (I may be a bit biased here, feel free to give me your opinion)

Pros

  • a lot of people, especially newer citizens would be pleased over the new ease of travel

  • visitors and newfriends would have easier visits

  • the CW would become slightly more aesthetically pleasing and less of a security feel

  • wouldn't have to give people access

Cons

  • people would still get lost I guarantee (I was around before the checkpoints and this was just as bad)

  • griefers and criminals would have nothing slowing them down/annoying them when they attack (this has proven effective)

  • problems such as the Carson Incident stayed peaceful because they couldn't get in without griefing (this was very helpful)

  • lose relative control of who comes and goes from the city (this could be good or bad)

I feel like the checkpoints don't inhibit my travel by that much now and taking them down would not be that effective. I would probably implement iron doors at each exit of the train stations so as to slow down the griefers.
