The Plan For Port Carson

With Blueavenue's permission I'd like to welcome you all to the plans for the Carson port town for Civcraft 2.0! Please forgive the awe inspiring beauty of my MS Paint skills and allow me to explain some of it's ideas and plans for our port town.

Boat Houses: In the town instead of living in houses and having plots laid out for housing the idea is for us all to live in ships and boats parked along the docks, either in groups or as individuals. Everyone is free to design their own boats and embellish them as they wish. A lot of fun can be had with the designs, I encourage you to be creative with your sails.

Warehouses: Along the docks will be warehouses. If you are in a co-operative of three or more people you are entitled to build a warehouse with the permission of the town co-operative. Warehouses can be used for storage, factories, housing vaults, livestock, and so on. Warehouses are not housing or shops.

Farm Land: Two large sections of the farm land will be public and for anyone to use and maintain. I suggest one side of the public farm be crops and the other livestock and trees. The rest of the farm land will be managed by the different co-operatives.

Town Hall/Train Station: At the head of the town square will be the town hall. This will double as both the home to the town co-operative and as a future train station that will connect to Carson City and possibly other settlements on the mainland. I suggest that in the town hall section we create a vault to house gerfers in, and storage for coal, rail tracks, and other resources. The vault can be constructed from donations as well as the profits from the rental of shop chests from the market.

Town Co-Operative: This needs further discussion and planning but the idea is that the town co-operative will oversee all planning in the town, repairs and public utilities. I suggest that the town co-operative consist of one member of every co-operative in the town, and be tasked with the job of voting in new co-operatives to the town. The town co-operative will also agree by consensus when a boat house, warehouse, farm, or shop building has been left griefed or abandoned for a long period of time to have it demolished and prepared for reuse by another individual or co-operative. Materials removed will be kept in storage within the town hall for one week, after which if the owner hasn't reclaimed them will become the property of the town co-operative.

Markets & Shops: The market areas will be open for anyone to rent a shop chest from the town co-operative. The terms and length of this rental needs to be discussed (does a diamond per shop chest per week sound ok?). Shop building plots in the two shops areas may be used by co-operatives within the town. They are then free to open any business within these shops. Shops that go left abandoned or empty will be reclaimed by the town co-op to be used again by another co-operative. The town co-op will agree by consensus when a shop has been abandoned, materials from the shop will be stored for one week and if unclaimed by the owner will there after become the property of the town co-operative.

Guest House: The guest house will be a public hotel where visitors and new players will be able to set their spawn. I suggest we build this in the style of a bordello or saloon to fit the port town theme.

Fist Fighting Ring: A public entertainment building to host fights in and to keep the drunken sailors happy. Suggestions for the design of this building are welcome.

Building height limit: No building may exceed the height limit of y=80. This is to prevent the creation of skyscrapers not befitting a port town. We will make the exception for ship sails, within reason (For example, no crazy world height limit sails, or tower-blocks built on top of boat bases)

Town Square Centre: Needs to either be a fountain or a statue. Designs for these also welcome.

and then I guess in the south we can connect up to whatever road network is created. Perhaps build some more entertainment buildings.

And that is the plan for the port town. Any thoughts?
