So I am very much non active. I'm currently away from my computer so I could not even log in. Still Civcraft and particularly Aurora still intests me. So I thought why not pose the question that has been on my mind for a while. What does a government in Civcraft need to do.
In the real world this question is answered preaty easily.
- Defense
- infrastructure
- laws
Some might join the first and last section. The problem in Civcraft is is that governments have been at such a small scale that they haven't really succeeded at any of those exceptaybe laws, but only in a very informal capacity and usually without much formal structure.
The clearest one of these 3 to justify in my mind is infrastructure, but to do well it would probably require a tax of some sort.
Defense on the scale of a Civcraft city even a fairly large one doesn't really make sense. We don't have wars usually and the petty greifing can be handeled by a few people across the entire server. Honest as a government sim Civcraft kind of fails. The only way I can really see through would be to either lower the world size drastically or make resources only appear in a few locations.
Sorry I'm starting to ramble a bit. The point is if we are going to recreat formal government we need to be clear about our goals
