Elections
Post Body

Aeon is due for another round of elections in ~ 10 days, so I thought it might be useful to discuss a few relevant topics.

Council Positions

This shifts somewhat over time, and it’s always useful to reassess this to fit the current needs of the city.

Right now, we have:

  • Defense/Judicial: Snitch network growth and maintenance, defensive structures, PvP practice/traning?

  • Relations: Maintaining good relations among Western Empire towns and between the Western Empire and foreign nations

  • City Operations: Plot management, public works, city expansion

  • Assets: Maintaining city donations and assets, keeping up with factory maintenance

  • Transport: Building and maintaing rails and roads in the over world and nether

If you think this list should be rearranged in any way, feel free to voice your opinion in the comments.

Census

Our first census will take place at some point between now and elections. The census has two components: 1) a post will be made to the Aeon subreddit requiring a response from all active citizens and 2) active citizens will be required to place a sign at a TBD in-game location.

Citizenship

If you are fairly new to the city, it's important to note that voting rights are restricted to registered citizens. To become a citizen, you must fill out the application on the sidebar, own and develop a plot in Aeon, and live here for at least 3 weeks.

Empire-wide Council

I believe that Aeon-affiliated towns will experience an unprecedented growth phase in the coming months. To account for this, we may want to develop a separate council that deals with Empire-wide issues. Voting power on this council will have to take town population or age into account to prevent any sort of "create a town in exchange for a vote" mentality. This could be as simple as having delegates from other towns vote alongside the Aeon council or some subset of the Aeon council on major issues.
