I've been struggling to find the best way to start this off so I'll just preface this with: my wife means the world to me. She also happens to be the biggest superfan for all things superhero and super-villian. From comic books to figures she has always loved the hobby, but everything changed when she found City of Heroes.
Unchained from licenses, brands and IP she could live and be a part of a world of comic books. Every one of her characters had detailed biographies and backstories just for fun, she breathed the game.
When the game died part of her did with it I think. To say she was devastated is an understatement, and she didn't even play that much. It was like a part of her past, her life - was gone, dead.
When we found out that City of Heroes was coming back it was almost too good to be true. Not just that but it won't be a reboot - but the original game, and free to boot. She still lights up just talking about her experiences and how she wants to try something else next, what build she is going to try and make next, even what her next character will look like and why.
I love seeing her this happy, and while some may think it's silly because it's just a game, it sure means a hell of a lot from me. So to all of those who have poured so much time, heart and soul into reviving City of Heroes - thank you.
