We've had threads discussing the big things that we miss and the little things that we miss... But what about the weird areas nobody talks about? Those things that during the day-to-day grind made the game just kind of... Fun?
Task/Strike Forces were hella fun, sure, but what about the Giant Monsters? I've been playing WoW, and recently they introduced a "scaling level" system that reminded me of the Giant Monsters. It didn't matter what level you were, they were exciting! You'd run around, do your missions, and the chat would blow up... "Babbage up!"
Lusca, man. Lusca was my first Giant Monster, I think, and boy was it exciting...
And character builds! I've been seeing more and more games shy away from the concept that you can totally mess up a character, because that's not fun, but damn, the difference in power you felt playing a character you built well versus one you made poor choices in... That was really rewarding. And respeccing was pretty exciting on those poor weaklings!
Last thing I had been thinking about was auto attacking... Or, the lack thereof. I think it was a big part of why leveling felt so good... You gained new stuff, but nothing ever became obsolete, and there was a definitive sense of growth in power, and not just rounding out of toolsets...
What about you guys? What are your 'medium' things?
There was one very, very tiny spot where you could, towards the front end of it

Like a great portion of the playerbase, I hated ED when it was introduced initially... But the more time I spent in the system the more I sincerely enjoyed it.
