Post Body

Hello everyone! I want to start by thanking everyone for bearing with us as we figure out all the protocols and details.

Communication

All official communication will come as a private message from r/AurumFinance. Don't worry, you aren't missing out on anything over there - it's just a way to get in contact. If you ever need anything, you can use !accounting on reddit, @accounting on discord, or send a modmail to r/AurumFinance.

Taxes

There have been a few minor adjustments to the code calculating your taxes, since there was a bug with the original algorithm. Users who have made payments may notice that suddenly their taxes went up a little bit. It's not a mistake.

If you are curious, before it was calculating based on the absolute value of your subtotal, and now it is calculating based on the absolute value of your transactions. This way, it properly calculates tax from payments going in and out.

Ongoing payments

There has been a fair amount of confusion on the way that ongoing payments work. There are two of these currently in use:

  • Government/business paychecks
  • Taxes

Instead of the conventional method of a paycheck every period of time, these payments are updated in real time. The number shown for taxes is the total amount of taxes you have ever paid. Same with real time paychecks, that is the amount you have been paid in total. Government employees are paid a certain percentage of all the tax dollars, so if one person makes a purchase, all government employees will have a little more change in their pockets.

Rewards and incentives

There have been a few of these, to encourage everyone to spend money. For example, in today's auction, anyone who has made or received a payment from another user was eligible. In the future, these will be more specific. Some examples of what it could be are:

  • Anyone in the last 10 days who made a purchase at BLT's shop
  • Anyone who has spent 100au or more in the last month
  • Or any number of similar things.

This encourages everyone to spend money on a wide variety of things, in case one of those purchases makes them eligible. Don't hoard your money, all there is to do in Aurum is spend it!

On another note, promotions run by the Credit Union or Aurum's government come out of our money pool. To avoid a debt, we won't be able to run promotions too often - so don't wait until you see one.

Personal loans

This is still being tested, and I don't have any concrete facts to share with you right now. So take the following with that in mind. One customer went into debt, and we offered a loan with interest. This is likely how it will go in the future.

We do NOT allow anyone to make a purchase if their available balance is below zero.

If you would like to request a loan, please get in contact with us using the methods described at the beginning of this post.
