Post Body

In order to support local businesses, there will be some changes to how taxes work when making some purchases.

In the period of 1 month (first to last day of the month, NOT 30 consecutive days) if you spend enough money on non-government services (purchases of products/services from merchants/businesses) you will get a partial to full tax refund for that month.

Here's how that breaks down:

  • If you spend a total of 0-250au on non-government services in one month, you get a 0% tax refund on all your purchases that month.
  • If you spend a total of 251-500au on non-government services in one month, you get a 20% tax refund on all your purchases that month.
  • If you spend a total of 501-750au on non-government services in one month, you get a 50% tax refund on all your purchases that month.
  • If you spend a total of 751-1000au on non-government services in one month, you get a 80% tax refund on all your purchases that month.
  • If you spend a total of 1001au or more on non-government services in one month, you get a 100% tax refund on all your purchases that month.

This is effective immediately. Don't count on it being around forever.
