Why were we privated in the first place?

We noticed that in the course of just a few hours, we gained hundreds of new subscribers. The mods decided that we want more control over our community, as it is the community that makes Aurum what it is. In order to keep what we have built the way it is, we made the subreddit private while we discussed what we wanted to do.

Why is the sub not public, and only restricted?

In order to preserve the community, all new members will have to submit an application over at r/CityofAurum_Customs. The community will be visible to the public, but only approved members will be able to post and comment. If you had access to the subreddit while we were set to private, you are already approved.

Do subreddits get community awards when they are restricted?

Yes! While we were private, we did not have access to custom community awards and coins. Now that they are back, I'd like to celebrate by giving a random comment here in 48 hours the Golden Donut award, which grants the awardee 1 month of Reddit Premium (and 700 coins).
