Alternatives why is a dorsal slit never recommended?

I read and all these groups about phimosis and they got circumcised because of phimosis. I do not believe the circumcision is ever necessary no matter what. If a person or parent is actually concerned about tight foreskin why is not a dorsal slit recommended instead of circumcision? Is it because there is no money in the dorsal slit? It automatically opens up the foreskin without taking off.
