Due to pathologic phimosis, I got circumcised at 14. Over time I’ve come to accept it as I was unresponsive to other treatments, though I still wonder about the “what-ifs” of it resolving as I got older.
I met a dude whose situation was very similar to mine, born in the US but not cut at birth. However, he got cut at 8 due to recommendations from a doctor that he had phimosis. I found this absolutely crazy, especially since he said he didn’t remember any complications related to it. 8 years old is just way too early to tell if phimosis is truly a problem.
Anyway, I definitely don’t know the full context, but it will stick in my mind that there continue to be people who escape getting cut at birth just for get cut for no reason.
