How can I use Standard Material output to drive Material Blender Blend Colour in Redshift?

Post Body

I have two Standard Materials I want to blend. A brushed metal, and a simple rough metal.

I want to blend them using another Standard Material. I have set this material to be completely black, but with a clear coat, essentially creating a specular mask.

I plugged this into the Material Blender Blend Color input, and the material goes red. I understand the Blend Color input requires a greyscale input. How can I convert the Standard Material output to be something compatible with the Blend Color input?
