I enjoyed this cigar. It lasted me about 75 minutes.
The wrapper was very smooth and had very few veins and wrinkles. It was uniformly firm and the cap was constructed fine. I cut it with a guillotine cutter fairly shallow and the pre-light draw was somewhat tight, but I tried it out anyway.
Overall the flavor of this cigar was dark coffee, peppery, leathery, and tangy. Throughout the entire cigar, in the background, was an interesting tangy flavor that I have not experienced in a cigar before. I can't give it a name beyond tangy, but it was pleasant to me.
The first half of the cigar was average, not really my preferred flavor profile, but still enjoyable. On the medium side of medium-full. Predominantly earthy, leathery, peppery, and in the background was a light coffee and the tangy flavor. The aftertaste was pretty mild compared to the main flavor.
The second half of the cigar was very good. The earthiness disappeared and the leather went to the background, replaced by a strong dark coffee flavor and a moderate pepper, with the tangy flavor in the background still. The body was definitely on the full side of medium-full, and towards the very end I'd say it was full. The aftertaste was strong and really good, the lingering coffee flavor and a not-overpowering pepper.
The smoke was somewhat harsh in the beginning, but it mellowed out to average harshness by the middle. I smoked it down to about 1/2 inch, and it was still really good at the end, but I was having trouble keeping it lit, as you usually do when it gets that short, and the nicotine was getting to me, so I decided to let it go out.
The burn was great, clean across, no touch ups needed, and stayed lit without problem. Ash was a solid light gray color and held to about 2" at one point.
The draw and smoke production weren't great at first but after a few puffs they were fine.
I enjoyed this cigar, the second half made up for the mediocre first half. If the first half was better this would have easily been higher ranking for me. Maybe someone who enjoys earthy and leathery cigars more than I do would enjoy it more, but the great coffee flavor and the unique tangy flavor made this really pleasurable in the second half despite me not loving the first.
