So recently there was a news story about cinnamon containing heavy metals such a lead, from some various brands. Sure enough one cinnamon container I had been using is from one of the listed brands. Fun.
Now with my regular chronic pain and the brain fog from the meds, its not like I can tell the effects of if I have lead poisoning or its just my regular plethora of symptoms making me feel like crap and unable to remember stuff. So I feel like I want to ask my doctor to order a heavy metal panel on me to see if I have been poisoned or have elevated levels. I'm fairly sure from my always true sources of too many medial dramas and cop shows, that heavy metal panels are not traditionally done unless there is reason to suspect there is a need.
So the first question is, which of my array of doctors would be the one you would ask to run a heavy metal panel? I have the endocrinologist, and rheumatologist next week and both of them constantly order blood draws. I don't know who would really be qualified to read a heavy metal panel.
Also has anyone done a heavy metal panel? Is it just a blood test? Do they need anything else for one of these? Can you get it done at a Quest or a Labcorp or do you need specialized labs for this? I figure its just a standard blood draw but never hurts to double check.
Also if anyone has had one of these, did finding out help with anything, or is thing going to be well yes or no but we can't do anything about it to fix you?
Can't think of anything else to ask, but if there is something else I should know going in, well let me know.
Thanks
