Which projects out to about 2.5 miles. Maybe 2 miles because my strides are a bit shorter and slower than most.
This is a huge milestone for me. Three years ago I was floxed, had a very severe adverse reaction to Cipro. For weeks I could not get to the bathroom. For almost a year I struggled to get to the mailbox. During years 1 and 2 I had many peaks and valleys and really found a double bottom last summer where I was back in a wheelchair after my 4th and 5th foot and ankle surgeries.
My phone tracked my steps for years and I didn’t realize it, and steps per day is how I measure my progress in getting back to where I used to be. In 2020, I walked on average 7,000 steps a day with an active day at about 10,000. For the better part of the first 2 years I averaged only 1,000 and only hit 3,000 for the first time this year. Yesterday had a burst of energy and got to 5 and probably could’ve done more.
My first ankle surgery was two years ago yesterday, so I hit it on the anniversary.
My goal now is to hit 10,000 steps in a single day by a year from yesterday. Maybe even by the end of this year. Just to hit it once would be so sweet.
It does get better for some of us. Don't give up hope.
