Saw my endo today. Itâs been over a year now since my thyroid went bonkers. I was hyperthyroid for 3 months then seemingly overnight went to a tsh of 188.
Starting with the valley, the news was a bit disappointing. Iâve been on Levo since January. My dose has been upped three times and my tsh was 11 last week. She told me my dose is way above what should be needed for my weight. She is concerned I am not absorbing the medication properly so I am being tested for celiac.
I know itâs to rule it out, that I probably donât have it and that the answer is be patient, but I feel frustrated that itâs been so long and Iâm still fighting to hit a normal range. A small voice in my head is back there with the what-ifâs. The last thing I need is another thing to manage, that complicates my treatment for the things I already have. Itâs just like, câmon body, absorb the meds this is not difficult!
Now for the peak: my endo is so lovely and affirming, treats me like I know about my own body and respects my input. I told her I was having fatigue and feeling very cold. She said âyou are doing so great for the long road youâve been on with this. I was amazed when your TSH was higher and you had so few symptoms. Itâs really incredible. Donât give yourself a hard time, youâre a trooper for dealing as well as you have!â She empathized and said it was her goal to get me in normal range and it made her feel bad she couldnât do more to speed things up.
Anywho, it was nice to hear. Sheâs a great dr and Iâm happy I have her on my team.
