I was diagnosed with mild-moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation after giving birth to my son in Aug 2023. In the last year, I’ve had several ER visits for chest pains, shortness of breath, racing heart, palpitations & dizziness. Every time, they check my troponin, do an ECG & an xray then send me home bc they’re all “normal.”

My most recent visit was 4 days ago. It was the most intense I’ve ever experienced these symptoms, along with a new one. A sharp, sudden & intense pain on the left side of my chest. I don’t rate anything as a 9 or 10 in pain bc I know it can always be worse, but my god does this hurt more than anything I’ve experienced. I drop to my knees, can’t inhale, can’t speak. It lasts only a few seconds thankfully. Go to the ER, they do the usual tests & tell me there’s nothing wrong and to just drink more water and rest.

The symptoms haven’t gone away though. It’s in waves. Most of the day, I can ignore it, but it’s still there. Then, usually after moving around a lot, it gets more intense to the point I need to rest.

I’m going back in bc I am so scared I’m going up die while alone with my son. But I was curious if anyone had any recommendations on tests I should request. I’m at such a loss. I’m so scared.

I do have an appointment scheduled with a cardiologist at Mayo. They’re the ones who diagnosed me with tricuspid valve regurgitation. They just told me to look for swelling in my abdomen & feet and worsening shortness of breath.
