Hey all! Happy Tuesday. So alas, here I am once again on the round about to figure out my mystery dx. I went to my neurologist that I hadn’t seen for two years and he suggested going to a neuroopthamologist. I went to my appt today, but everything showed up fine. They were mostly checking for optic neuritis which is not present. These symptoms disappeared after 6 months in 2022 and repeated during Xmas to a lesser extent but still pretty disabling. It’s constant weird vision. Glad I don’t have it but also like wtf do I have. UGH. The internet is amazing and does anyone have any clue what these could be or have you experienced them yourself? I’m seeing my neurologist soon to discuss and I’m sure take new MRI but still wondering.
Here are my symptoms:
Vision change - blurry/shimmery, kind of static but can still see. One eye worse than other (is constant for 2 months now. From wake to sleep)
Weakness
Fatigue
Sensitivity to light
Body zaps, numbness, tingling etc. (feet going numb at same time for example)
Brain fog
Mild balance issues
A few times slurred words
A few times syncope stand up and collapse (limbs give out but brain and cognition still there, not perfect but fine) last 20 mins then can get up (In 2022)
Ear ringing
Headaches
Lightheaded when standing but not vertigo
*** these are not all present at the same time. The syncope thing I haven’t had since 2022. Etc. I also don’t know if they’re even related. Some occur at the same time for sure, others are kind of present here or there.
These some to begin after a stressful event. Slowly and then build to an extreme. This time I happened to get a bacterial infection at the same time. No clue I’d related or if one triggered the other.
Tests I’ve had that are fine: 1. Optic tests (opthoneurplofist) - Today 2. Spinal tap (2022) 3. MRV, MRA - 2022 4. Rhuematology work up (2024) 5. Nerve tests (2022) 6. Seizure test (2022)
Things that came up as abnormal:
1. One lesion on brain that changed in size (2022)
2. POTS confirmed (recent)
3. Migraine but it’s not often or serious. I don’t take meds etc
4. Depression
