I try extremely hard to never take a sick day. Unless I absolutely need it. I’m a teacher and we’re given 10 pto/sick days, but what I didn’t know is when you got that ten you get a “verbal warning”. Why the hell are they giving us days and then we can’t use them?! I wound up in urgent care earlier this week because I was so sick, I was still trying to go to work(don’t worry, I didn’t my sibling hid the car keys). The day I got back to work I was given my warning, I had been pushed to 11 days off(still not sure that math is right), and my most recent illness “probably pushed me into a written warning”. Mean while I’m still not better, I woke up 2 hours before my alarm crying in pain and terrified if I take off work any more for any reason I’ll loose my job. A job I’m good at, damn good at.
And I know about fmla, I’ve started the process, but I only have 15 days from the day I got the paperwork to get it filled out. Too get it filled out my doctor requires an appointment, to get an appointment? I need time off, and idk if they’ll let me leave and come back without putting it in the system. Or just leave a bit early. To get the paper work filled out to protect my job, could loose me my job.
And I just want to not hurt any more.
