Device group with a Wi-Fi extender?

I have a Wi-Fi extender upstairs & my Netgear router downstairs.

The Chromecast upstairs is too far from the Netgear to reliably hold a connection. So I have to connect it to the extender.

Right now, I'm unable to add that Chromecast to my speaker group, since it's on a "different network". Is there a way to configure my network settings to make Google home see the extender as the same network for the purpose of grouping my device?

I'm terrible at explaining things, so this alternate explanation may help:

I've got a Netgear router & a Wi-Fi extender that's connected to that signal. When I browse for Wi-Fi networks, I see Netgear 2.4G, Netgear 5G, & Extender.

Currently connected to Netgear 2.4G: -Chromecast Audio -Google Home -Google Mini

Currently connected to Extender: -Chromecast

I'm trying to put all these devices in one speaker group, but since the Chromecast is seen as being on a different network, it won't let me. Is there a way I can still do this?
