I find myself often, as new events cultural and political unravel, just wishing he were still around to comment. I'm sure many of you fellow followers and fans do the same thing where you try to imagine, informed by his work and relevant comments, what he would say to things.

I've made myself a list of events that I wish I could hear him comment and write on. These include:

The 2012 Olympic games, Trump's election, Boris Johnson's election, Angela Merkel standing down, the murder of the Saudi journalist by Saudi Arabia, Brexit, the Scottish Independence Referendum, the handling of the pandemic, the Prince Andrew and Epstein scandal, and perhaps an engagement with the new far left.
