(Generally) Conservative theology promotes original sin & self-shame yet denies any suggestion that we might hold unconscious racist beliefs
Post Body

The original sin preached often goes like this - “we have been so far removed from God’s original plan that it’s impossible to even comprehend the level of sin we live out day-to-day. Thank God for Jesus’s sacrifice.” But when stereotyping / racism / prejudice is involved, it’s “I know myself, I’m not racist, I have colored friends!” It’s strange is all- it sounds like we’re willing to accept our sinful nature as a whole but unwilling to actually put in the work to dig DEEEEEEEP and unlearn our sinful attitudes and beliefs, particularly towards people of different colors.

Just some thoughts.
