True servants serve God for nothing; They serve God for out of love and gratitude for all He is, not because of anything they may be getting out of it. During times of suffering is when we see the true color of Christians . (This is just a rant)
Post Body

I've seen a lot of past-Christians / skeptics clamor about the same thing- I've tried Christianity, but I suffered. What's the point if I'm still experiencing suffering? God must not care about me. Must not care about any of us.

First off, a true Christian loves and relishes God *in and through* suffering. Paul and Silas were beaten up, tortured, and thrown in jail for preaching the Gospel. They spent a lot of time in jails over the years. They didn't even ask for a change in circumstance. They only ask for the courage to keep on changing people.

It's so easy for us to read that.... and forget about it. But you'd be doing them, and the NT, absolutely no favors.

Can you imagine 1st century jails? Torture? Medicine? Really put yourselves in that situation for a moment. Would you believe? Would you be singing hymns to God during such strife?

Absolutely none of our worldly relationships are good all the time, why would this be any different? What's the phrase? "If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” You don't drop any of your loved ones like a hot potato the second they do something you deem as unworthy.

Secondly, suffering transforms us. You ever meet a person who has had minimal strife in their life all the way to adulthood? Never worried about money, surrounded by people who showered them with praise.....

On average, how do they behave? What's their personality like?

But to suffer *with God* brings massive changes. We become kinder, wiser, more gentle souls.

I'm simplifying this ^ but honestly there are hundreds of fantastic sermons that explain the purpose of suffering in a life-changing way. If you actually care about the subject, just look one up. Don't argue with people online until you've at least listened to a few sermons by theological experts.
