A being outside of our space and time that has created everything?
A random guy from the middle east claiming to be the son of god, killed for it, and somehow accomplishing his goal?
Moses parting the sea? Jesus raising the dead? And don't even get me started on the violence of the OT.
But.... wow, when you take off the cultural lenses even for a brief moment and read this book. Or listen to a pastor who actually translates to you what the words truly mean. It is so dense, brimming with wisdom and truth.
Everything I thought I knew about Christianity was just washed away. Listening to atheist friends and strangers irl and online, I really thought I knew there was absolutely no way that God existed. You all know the basic arguments repeated over and over.
But more than the absurdity, I think, it hits our pride. It's easier to believe we are here by complete cosmic accident than to say we are stupid, violent beasts in need of absolute grace. Who in their right mind would *want* that? Who would want to admit to themselves "I'm positively awful. There's no way around it. I'm in need of a savior." ?
