Genesis 2:17 (interlinear): but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil not you shall eat from for in the day that you eat of it surely you shall die.
It never occured to me.
That's not an IF YOU EAT from it.
That's FOR IN THE DAY THAT YOU EAT. It doesn't imply any possibility that they were not going to eat. There was gonna be a day in which they were gonna eat from the tree. They were going to surely die.
But a Lamb had been already slain from the foundation of the world (Rev 13:8).
It's all connected in an almost paradoxical way: satan understood God's plan of incarnating his Word as a human to raise humanity to glory. He tried to sabotage us by tempting Eve to disobey God. That made her do the very thing that would make God institute the plan in the first place that would make him want to tempt Eve to prevent humanity from reaching glory.
What?!? No.
First of all God isn't some game show host! This isn't the Twilight Zone "The Monsters are Due on Mulberry Street."
God had intended for Adam and all mankind to be the creation he lived with for eternity. But Satan who had already been thrown to hell was jealous. How could God love mankind more than his angels? So Satan planned to destroy what God created.
Whether or not the words spoken from God to Adam included "if" is irrelevant since the main point is God gave a command to Adam and he betrayed God by listening to Eve who was deceived by Satan. Thus letting sin and death into world resulting in the destruction of God's most loved creation, mankind.
Everything else afterwards has been God trying to restore what he had created. He has tried to bring us back from death by giving each generation chances to receive salvation. Finally he did find a way through Jesus and Revelation is the cumulation and conclusion of God's work through Jesus. At that time is when God's Kingdom will be restored as it was in the time of Adam. The difference is that sin and will be defeated un the glory and victory of God.
