Dear /r/Christianity,
I have two questions, similar in spirit, but for different mediums. The first one: what are some key books for the Christian Left, for the social justice movement, to which people tend to return? I know of Dorothy Day and of Dietrich Bonhoeffer; I think much of what Simone Weil has written is also important for the moment, but I'd love to learn more names. I feel I need to read some books of this sort regularly, to stay rooted against the assault of hatred and splits and divisions on the social media. Any suggestions for other books? Who are the most well-known writers on social justice in the Catholic world, for example? What are the key works people often come back to?
And another question: who are the most influential modern thinkers in this area? For example, are there influential twitter feeds that would comment on social issues from a left Christian perspective? Who are the strongest voices? Sorry if this question sounds naive or weird, but I'm truly ignorant of the landscape, and would love to know what modern "stations" people most often tune to. Thank you!
