Just a simple question: when you are filling out online forms, under religion, why does it always separate Catholic from Christian but not provide other denominations or just combine it under Christian?
Post Body

I think every digital form I’ve ever filled out and probably paper form with the question, has always separated Catholic from Christian and never really had other denominations listed. A few times I’ve seen Baptist, Protestant, and Lutheran, but not as often as the separation of Christian and Catholic. Is there a simple reason for this? Is Catholicism that separate from Christianity? I am not Catholic and have not studied anything on Catholicism ever, so I am ignorant to that denomination (as I think it is anyways under Christianity). Could someone enlighten me here? Thanks.
