This is from Tom Holland (no, not the actor), Historian, *not a Christian*, and author of the book Dominion: How the Christian Revolution Changed the World. Thought it was an interesting and thought-provoking quote from an interview of his.
Quick overview of the book if you're curious: "Tom Holland has written a book that is not so much a history of Christianity, but a history of the complex role Christianity played in the formation of modern Western culture. He rightly calls that influence “paradoxical” because, first, the Christian church has often spectacularly failed of its ideals, and other times it has been disastrously divided over what those ideals actually were." https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/
I usually fill these things with disclaimers, who I am and who I am not, that I'm not trying to create more division and hate, etc. but don't really feel the need to anymore. If people want to demonize anything I say or get into arguments, they will find a way to do so. Hope any convos you have about this are constructive.
