Lent: Our Lent Tradition to take a Break to Focus on Each Other
Post Body

Lent is a very important time for me. It's a time of deeper spiritual awareness as we recognize the events leading up to Easter.

As Christ was focusing on us as He went through the ordeal of suffering to pay for our sins. For the 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, we as Christians, focus on Christ's sacrifice. We engage in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as a means of drawing closer to God, examining their lives, and preparing themselves for the celebration of Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The period of Lent is seen as a time of spiritual renewal and self-examination, allowing believers to confront their sins and seek forgiveness. It is a time to look at the many gifts God provided to us.

During this time, my husband and I still attend parties but we take a break from "swinging" or "sexual swapping". For some this may seem odd, and I get lots of questions from our more regular playmates when I tell them that we only have sex with each other during the season of Lent.

I explain, Lent is a time when I focus on my family and my husband and I focus on our marriage. As part of our marital focus, we focus on our personal sexual experiences with each other. We enjoy our "best of" experiences with each other.

I am not trying to sell you on doing this during Lent as we do. But I am trying to sell you on the idea that every so often, take a break from the "lifestyle" and focus on that man or woman who sleeps on the other side of your bed each night. That person who if he or she was not there tomorrow, would leave a big hole in your heart.

God Bless!

May you all have a blessed and reflective Lent!
