I posted this on another subreddit, but I figured this was the perfect place to post this story.
This happened near the end of last year.
I work for a fast food company. A guy in his 20's came in and started helping himself to a fountain drink, which is conveniently located by the front door. It is a small shop with CCTV and there were two employees, me included, there, so of course we noticed him.
I ask him what he's doing. He says "I'm diabetic, they let me do this" implying other staff members allow him to get a drink for free all the time. At this point, a guy I vaguely recognise comes in and asks the CB if he's hassling me, says I'm his friend and tells CB to stop. I don't know this guy that well, but I was grateful that he stepped in to help.
I tell the diabetic gentleman that it is £1.30 for a large cup. At this point he has the cup placed under the nozzle, ready to pour himself a drink. He concedes and says "I'll just get water then", which is free. He pours it and leaves.
According to my colleagues, apparently he tries it all the time. The kicker? All our drinks are sugar free.
