I quit drinking in May of last year and feel great. I had a doctors appointment last week and my lipid panel came back with some interesting results. My total cholesterol stayed the same - a tad high at 203/206, but my triglycerides lowered significantly from 165 to 71 (which is good!). As such my VLDL lowered from 33 to 14.2. My HDL stayed around the same (47/46).
Well because the LDL is calculated (total - HDL - 1/5 of triglycerides) my LDL actually went up from 123 to 146. Which is being flagged as high.
Total: 203 --> 206
HDL: 47 --> 46
Triglycerides: 165 --> 71
VLDL: 33 --> 14.2
LDL: 123 --> 146
Is this a real concern or just a fluke of the calculation?
I already eat well (vegetarian with occasional fish, decent fiber intake, avoid ultra processed foods, don't eat out a lot) and exercise frequently (2-3 times a week, nothing crazy). I do not smoke. I am at a little bit of a loss on what more I can do.
Anyone else dealt with this?

Look into getting your ApoB and Lp(a) checked. Those are more accurate of risk than LDL. Especially if they're just calculating LDL with equations rather than directly measuring the number of particles.
