Will someone advise me on how to play Endless Summer?

Okay, weird title, I know. I just started playing and while I like the book so far, it usually takes me pretty far into a book to decide whether I want to spend diamonds on a book.

I’ve also read quite a lot on this sub that ES makes no sense without spending diamonds.

Does anyone have any general tips on how to spend diamonds on this book? Like are there “clues” that I should always spend on (like in VoS or ILITW)? I’m not interested in any LI scenes (yet) or character fluff, but IDK if those even exist in the book.

I’m only on Chapter 5, btw.
