I really need help

IV been playing on and off for a while, and my question is HOW!? I block, parry, and sometimes repose but still get killed with a challenge how do I get better how do I land hits cuz I feel when I kill someone it's pure luck but then anyone I mean anyone else can fuck me up in 2 seconds I know it's a skill issue but there's gotta be something I'm doing wrong, I really like this game but I don't want to give up on it cuz I suck
